High School Pulls Out of Game Due to Size of Opponent's Players
Wow!
That's todays top story. A high school football game was forfeited because the opposing team had bigger players? What kind of message is that sending to our students? Of course don't forget the opposing team's name, "SPARTANS".
We are supposed to be encouraging our children to overcome obstacles, find solutions, a way around things when possible. But if in high school the teachers are telling them to quit without even trying, who's the real scardy cat? Our children need direction and encouragement.
A friend of mine, Cynthia Kersey wrote a book on being Unstoppable. She has many stories of teens and young adults going beyond those situations when so many people had told them no, or that's impossible, you're too young. But they forged on and achieved their goals and dreams.
So are we going to stand by and let coaches determine the challenges that are right for our future stars? I'll bet those players might have been intimidated, but really give them a chance. Come up with a better game plan. Big guys are bigger, but can they move as fast, make quick turns and dance like Walter Payton? Peyton Manning? Just to name a few, see more greats here. Gosh, there even was a movie made about a little fellow called "RUDY".
Sports are a way for our children to experience the greatest challenges in life. Team achievements, working together for a common goal, beating the odds, excelling to greater heights, pushing yourself to be the best.
Coaches train our champs better. Get their minds in the right attitude. Be the greatest coach ever, support your team, don't teach them to tuck ther tails and run, (unless they're running with the ball).
